Rayopt – Master for optical and laser reading

Our answer to safety, traceability and recycling

Safety, ecology and innovation, nowadays, not only characterize modern life, but also guide industrial choices in numerous sectors. The Rayopt family is our solution to simplify these essential aspects, offering cutting-edge masterbatches specifically designed to exploit the potential of automatic optical reading.

Our goal is clear: to support your industrial processes in an effective and innovative way, through the use of pigments and special formulations. For example, by promoting the recycling of plastic materials thanks to carbon black free pigments, fighting the growing counterfeiting crimes and speeding up your production chain.

This family of products brings together additive masterbatches with very different functions, but with a common denominator: the intended use, which involves the use of optical machinery (for example, those that use lasers or automatic reading systems). These are highly technical products, developed in particular to optimize the entire industrial chain and meet the most complex market needs.

Nir

The smart carbon black free choice for the recycling of dark colors

Those involved in the production of recyclable plastic products are often faced with a dilemma: which dark pigments to choose to add to it? The question is legitimate, because the carbon black pigment, traditionally used to produce all dark shades (ranging from deep black to burgundy, from midnight blue to anthracite gray) is not detectable by optical separators in waste sorting centers, which makes the product “invisible” to machines and, consequently, not recyclable, to the point of ending up all too often in landfills or incinerators.

To cope with this increasingly widespread problem, in Gaypa’s laboratories we have studied a solution: NIR masterbatches, that is our carbon black free masterbatches, which allow your dark products to be fully detectable by optical readers, so that plastic can be properly sorted and recycled. But the benefits don’t end there: the adoption of NIR technology also gives the final product additional advantages, such as less thermal degradation of the plastic and better color fastness over time.

The NIR line has been specifically designed to meet the needs of the circular economy in the plastic packaging sector. It is proposed as a decisive alternative to the more classic Raylen line, precisely in those sectors where it is essential to ensure recyclability, understood as the identification of materials containing dark pigments by waste sorting machines.

An additional advantage is the “freshness” of the plastic surface, as these masterbatches reflect light radiation and, therefore, do not heat up. In this way, they improve the longevity of the product, which suffers much less from the consequences of light absorption.

At Gaypa we guarantee the detectability of materials, through our infrared reading service, with special machinery, to ensure the reflectance of all colors.

Detech

The chemical fingerprint against counterfeiting

To get around the problem of counterfeiting, a widespread problem in many industries, our lab team designed an innovative solution: Detech, an advanced method of marking plastic with unique, non-replicable chemical fingerprints.

More specifically, Detech are masterbatches that, combined with specific chemical compounds with unique and detectable characteristics, make your product traceable throughout the supply chain, from origin to final consumer. This identification system is made possible thanks to an integrated IT solution of chemical trace recording, digital storage and secure data sharing via blockchain technology.
With Detech, we provide you with a powerful tool to protect your brand and ensure the authenticity of your products.

To identify products formulated according to the Detech technique, the use of specific instrumental technologies is necessary. In practice, a unique, harmless and difficult-to-replicate chemical trace is inserted into the masterbatch formula, which is mainly used to identify authentic products and distinguish them from fakes. The trace can only be verified by the technicians of the parent company through special instrumentation.

It is a very particular project, especially suitable for the luxury sector, or for extremely technical areas where it is essential to make sure that the parts are original and not counterfeit or, in any case, in accordance with the law.

Lasermark

Indelible and optimized laser marking

From food packaging to cables, from electronic devices to toys, laser marking is now a distinctive and inevitable feature. In this context, color, as always, plays a fundamental role; In particular, the application of laser markings takes place through the “burning” of the material, and some pigments favor this process in an optimal way.

Essentially, plastic can be marked permanently through the laser, which is useful both for practical needs – for example, when it comes to marking the production batch, expiration dates or serial numbers on a product, and for economic reasons – laser marking is less expensive than any labels to be applied or additional printing processes, and for an aesthetic matter – the laser allows you to draw and apply unique effects to plastic, through writings, symbols or indelible drawings.

Our response to this innovation is our Lasermark line, which replaces the need to print ink directly on the finished piece or apply labels. Simplifying the creation of an item, especially in packaging, guarantees greater success in terms of recycling and significant savings on production costs.

These mica-based masterbatches are specifically designed not only to aid laser marking, but also to make it much more prominent and precise. They are available in two main types: the first highlights the burn in light colors, creating a sharp contrast; the second, on the other hand, makes it stand out in dark colors, allowing the marking to appear lighter or faded for a high-contrast effect. With Lasermark, it is therefore possible to obtain indelible and high-quality markings and optimize the entire production process in the best possible way.
