Dye Masterbatches
Customized solutions for every production requirement
In the world of plastics manufacturing, choosing the right color is much more than just an aesthetic decision. It is, in fact, a key element that influences product identity, consumer perception and, ultimately, success in the market.
That’s why we at Gaypa deeply understand the importance of offering coloring solutions that are not only aesthetically flawless, but also seamlessly integrated into your production processes. With our range of dye masterbatches, we are able to provide you with a world of customized color possibilities, tailored to meet your specific needs!
What are coloring masterbatches?
Concentrated colour to bring your plastic ideas to life
If you’re new to the plastics industry and come across the term “dye masterbatch,” you might legitimately ask: what exactly is it? Imagine small “pearls” or granules, apparently simple but which, in reality, contain a real
Unlike traditional pigments, which often come as fine powders and can be difficult to handle and blend evenly into plastics, coloring masterbatches offer a much more practical and efficient solution. The color, in fact, is already “embedded” in these small granules, ready to be dosed and mixed with the polymer resin during the plastic transformation process (such as injection molding, extrusion or blow molding). This packaging of the color within the polymer carrier offers numerous advantages in terms of cleanliness, ease of dosing and, above all, uniform dispersion of the color in the final product.
To better understand the role of pigments, you can define them as real “raw materials” of color: those who produce colors, such as inks, varnishes or masterbatches, have the task of formulating mixtures of different substances and coloring pigments and these, processed and joined in the right way, are able to disperse or cover the surface of the final product, allowing it to be the desired color through the interaction between dyes and light radiation.
At Gaypa we feel a bit like alchemists: we study the elements of nature from which pigments derive, we know their composition and their reactions to exposure to light waves, we carry out chemical and physical experiments and, all this, to expand our knowledge and give the end customer wonderfully colored objects through our masterbatches.

Benefits of Coloring Masterbatches
An investment in quality and efficiency
Choosing Gaypa’s dye masterbatches means opting for a series of concrete advantages that translate into higher quality of the finished product and greater efficiency of your production process. More specifically, with our coloring masterbatches you can obtain:
- More intense and uniform colours: thanks to the attention we pay to the selection and dispersion of pigments, our colouring masterbatches guarantee a superior and homogeneous dispersion compared to the direct use of powdered pigments. This ensures a uniform colouring of your final product, eliminating the risk of streaks or unwanted shade variations;
- compatibility with different types of plastics: our dye masterbatches are designed to be compatible with a wide range of thermoplastic resins, giving you the flexibility to achieve the desired shade on even very different materials;
- Color stability during the production process: our masterbatches are formulated to ensure high color stability even during the most demanding processing phases, ensuring constant quality over time.
Dye Masterbatch in Injection Molding
Overcoming challenges with "smart chemistry"
A concrete example of application is represented by the challenges posed by some production processes such as injection molding; this process, which is fundamental for the production of a wide variety of plastic products, can present some obstacles that, if not addressed correctly, compromise the quality of the final product. To avoid this, we at Gaypa try to make the components within our coloring masterbatches work in synergy with the aim of offering you effective, high-performance and, above all, long-lasting solutions to overcome obstacles such as:
- Cracking effect and WARPAGE (cracks and deformations in plastics): the appearance of cracks (cracking) or warping (warpage) in the molded part can be a problem. Cracking, that is the formation of surface cracks, can be caused by mechanical, thermal or chemical stresses during or after moulding; Warpage, on the other hand, manifests itself as a distortion of the desired shape of the piece. To counteract these effects, an effective solution is pigment leveling, an approach that combines pigments with specific rheological properties and nucleating agents within the masterbatch. Nucleating agents, in particular, promote a more uniform crystallization of the polymer during the cooling phase of the printed product,
reducing internal stresses that can lead to cracks and deformations. The choice of pigments that can be effectively combined with the chemistry of the nucleating agents further contributes to minimizing these surface defects; - Color burning in the hot climate: The prolonged stay of the molten plastic material in the hot chamber of the injection molding machine can cause the color to burn or change, especially with organic pigments that can be more sensitive to high temperatures than inorganic ones. To respond to this problem, we at Gaypa select and use pigments with high thermal resistance in the formulation of our dye masterbatches, ensuring color stability even in the high temperature conditions typical of the injection process;
- Formation of streaks and defects in the injected product: the appearance of streaks or other surface defects in the final product, such as inhomogeneity of the color, can be caused by poor dispersion of the pigment in the plastic mass. In this regard, it is possible to design high-dispersion dye masterbatches, through a careful selection of the polymer carrier and pigments that facilitates their uniform distribution within the molten plastic, guaranteeing a final result of high aesthetic quality and chromatic homogeneity.
